Electricity
For many organisations electricity accounts for their largest utilities’ spend. Prices are volatile for all and financial penalties great for the unwary. Twenty years on from privatisation, the “competitive market” now regularly disappoints with suppliers unwilling to quote and customers pressured into accepting onerous credit terms for supplies.
Many customers are now calling for an element of “green” electricity within their purchasing requirements and planning for a future of low carbon power supplies. The cost implications for consumers on this major transition in both generation and delivery through the wires are an increasing concern for future cost planning.
MEUC keeps members constantly updated on purchasing opportunities, changes to contract terms and conditions and industry and government plans for the future. Meetings give regular informal access to the various suppliers.
