Renewable Heat Incentive Consultation - Responses Invited

The Department of Energy and Climate Change has issued a consultation document setting out its proposals for the design and operation of the Renewable Heat Incentive. The aim of the proposal is to provide financial support to encourage business and domestic users switching to renewables from fossil fuels for heating.

Responses to the consultation which closes on 26th April are invited.

The RHI which the government says it expects to implement in April next year is likely to have serious cost implications for the I&C sector.

The government has not commented on how it is to be financed other than to say that it plans to make a further announcement in the Budget expected sometime in March.

MEUC would welcome members' comments to help inform it in formulating its response to the consultation.
