Better Connections Service on the way!

OFGEM have now recognised the unfriendly process customers are experiencing when they want an electricity connection. Through their five-yearly review of distribution OFGEM have challenged the industry to become more transparent, introducing standards that will provide better service to customers.

From October 2010, the new Electricity (Connection Standards of Performance) Regulations will oblige distributors to provide information in shorter timeframes and deliver actual connections as promised. If they fail to deliver a compensation payment will be due to the customer. Distributors will also be required to provide more price information on their websites.

Further details of the Standards of Performance requirements and proposed compensation payments will become available when the guidance document is published later in the month.
