OPERATING EXTENSIONS TO NUCLEAR STATIONS

Heysham 1 and Hartlepool nuclear power plants have had operating extensions for a further five year period up until 2019. There could be extensions granted for other AGR nuclear plant over the next few months. Sizewell B PWR nuclear station could also see a 20 year operating life extension which would see it active until 2040. This could seriously effect the market dynamics in the years ahead.


NEW GAS DEPOSITS FOUND IN ISRAEL

The biggest gas find in the last ten year period has been discovered off the coast of Israel. The field is estimated to have reserves of 16 trillion cubic feet and could make Israel a new source of gas for Western Europe.
